White Knight Chronicles is an epic fantasy tale about two kingdoms in midst of a longstanding war. The King of Balandor, wishing to put an end to the war, invites the duke of Faria to his castle to celebrate his daughter's coming of age. But this celebration is sabotaged by the Magi, a rogue sect seeking to steal the White Knight, an ancient weapon of war sealed beneath Balandor castle, in order to take over the world. During the ensuing chaos, a young man named Leonard accidentally unlocks the power of the White Knight as he attempts to save the princess. With the kingdoms in chaos and the princess in peril, Leonard is entrusted with the mission to find the Magi and rescue the princess.

What?.... No love for RPGs? It is my favorite video game genre. This game has been getting really excellent reviews so far. I will play it for a whole week and write up my opinion. The online quests with 4 other players is what really has me wanting this game.

I’ve been playing WKC in spurts but so far it’s good. It is not great because it’s kind of old school where navigation can become tedious. You have to pop up your mini map constantly to make sure that you don’t get lost. The single player experience is forgettable but the bread and butter here is the online experience. You get to visit online towns where up to 16 players can walk around and voice chat. From that town you can form a party of four people and take on quests. There are unique items that you can get in online quests that you can then use in single player. Keep in mind that this is a JRPG. It will be drastically different from games like Demon’s Souls, Dragon Age, Mass Effect, Fallout 3, or Oblivion. Don’t expect that kind of epicness in this JRPG. Definitely worth a rental first and purchase later if you like it.
